About the NISM Series V-D exam
NISM Series V-D: what to know before you register and sit it.
Exam basics
Exam fee: ₹3,000
Paid to NISM at registration, plus applicable taxes. Payment gateway charges are extra.
150 questions · 3 hours · 60% to pass
150 marks in total. Single correct answer per question. Negative marking applies.
Certificate valid for 3 years
Valid for 3 years from the examination date. Renewal means passing the V-D exam again before the current certificate expires — there is no CPE route.
Carry your admit card and an original photo ID
Bring your admit card and an original, valid photo identity proof. Your PAN must also be furnished or updated in your NISM registration, or the passing certificate will not be issued.
Registration & booking
Register through the NISM portal
Register for V-D on the NISM certification portal and pick an available centre, date and slot.
Book your test-centre slot early
Choose your centre, date and slot during registration. NISM does not publish a V-D-specific minimum lead time, so book early anyway.
Keep your name and PAN accurate
Make sure your name and PAN are correct in your NISM registration. PAN verification is required before the passing certificate is issued.
After passing, complete AMFI registration
A new applicant who passes V-D is eligible to register for BOTH mutual fund and SIF distribution, subject to the applicable AMFI requirements.
